QUALIFICATION:
Education: 3 years at technical schools or 5 years at higher technical institutions in “Mechanical Engineering” or “Vehicle Technology” (focus - school-dependent offer) 
Vehicle Technology - Key curriculum topics:
Design / Project Management / Automotive Electronics / Electrical Engineering / Technical Mechanics / Calculations / Manufacturing Technology / Production Technology / Machines & Systems / Automation Technology / Vehicle Drives / Vehicle & Engine Technology 
Further knowledge: CAD (Computer Aided Design) Technology / CNC (Computerized Numerical Control) Technology / Welding Technology
Practical experience: School-owned workshops and laboratories as well as through multi-week mandatory internships in companies 
Educational options:
1 – Automotive Technician -> Apprenticeship (with modules)
2 – Vehicle Technology Engineer -> Studies at University / University of Applied Sciences 

Completed training as Vehicle Technician / Mechatronics Engineer for commercial vehicles / Automotive Technician, or comparable qualification

ACTIVITIES:
* Diagnosis, maintenance, repair and overhaul of motor vehicles (passenger cars, commercial vehicles, or specialty vehicles, depending on the application)
* Troubleshooting using diagnostic systems, measurement and testing techniques, and sensor/electronic tests
* Performing service and inspection work according to manufacturer specifications
* Replacement of components, wear parts, and assembling assemblies
* Documentation of completed work, preparation of service reports and diagnostic documentation
* Supporting error analysis and optimizing repair processes
* Contact person for customers regarding technical matters; advising on maintenance contracts and additional services, if required
* Compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards
