QUALIFICATION:
Successfully completed studies in Human Medicine -> 9-month basic training (rotation) -> specialization basic training as well as specialization focus training in the chosen specialization (duration between 63 and 72 months without studies - depending on the specialization) -> graduation with specialist examination at the Austria Medical Chamber  

Licensed Physician - Specialist Certification in Clinical Microbiology & Virology or equivalent recognition procedure

ACTIVITIES:
* Responsible participation in the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases using microbiological and virological testing techniques
* Planning, implementation, and quality assurance of routine microbiological and virological tests as well as molecular detection methods
* Communication of findings to hospitals, private physicians, and research collaborations
* Participation in inter-hospital, emergency, and infection prevention programs, antibiotic coagulation/antibiotic stewardship
* Collaboration in emergency/central care (emergency diagnostics, SARS-CoV-2/influenza pre-analysis, specific panels if necessary)
* Participation in scientific projects, research proposals, certifications, and quality assurance
* Continuing education, participation in clinical/laboratory diagnostic guideline development, and evidence-based research
