Job Description

QUALIFICATION:

6 semester training as bachelor's degree program at Universities of Applied Sciences including the following key curriculum topics:
Orthoptics / Oculomotor Skills / Strabismus / Neuro-Ophthalmology / Diagnostics of Eye Movement Disorders / Fundamentals of Visual Perception / Paediatric Ophthalmology / Geriatric Orthoptics 

  • This profession can only be practiced after completing the legally prescribed training
  • Professional activities are based on the legally prescribed training content
  • Registration in the “Register of Health Professions” is mandatory to practice this profession

Completed training or studies as an Orthoptist (Bachelor's/Master's or state-recognized)

ACTIVITIES: 
* Conducting orthoptic examinations and therapies for the treatment of eye muscle disorders, low vision, and binocular problems
* Development of individualized treatment concepts, documenting findings, treatment plans, and treatment progress
* Conducting à la carte treatments, eye movement training, occlusion, and filter therapies
* Close interdisciplinary collaboration with ophthalmologists, optometrists, nurses, and other therapists
* Advising and training patients and caregivers on therapies and daily routines
* Participation in the development and implementation of ophthalmic treatment concepts (e.g., neuro-ophthalmology, tropics)
* Ensuring hygiene, safety, and data protection standards
* Participation in regular team meetings, continuing education programs, and quality assurance
