Job Description

QUALIFICATION:
Education: 3 years at vocational schools in “Information Technology” or 5 years at higher technical institutions in “Computer Science”
Subjects – Computer Science: Cloud Computing / Database Query Languages / Software Engineering / Data Science / Project Management / Business Administration / Accounting
Additional qualification: SAP or Cisco (school-dependent)
Practical experience: School-owned workshops as well as through multi-week mandatory internships in companies 
Educational option:
Database Administrator -> Studies at University / University of Applied Sciences

Completed IT training or degree in Computer Science / IT System Administration or comparable qualification

ACTIVITIES:
* Planning, implementation, operation and optimization of relational and, where applicable, NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB)
* Tuning performance, planning capacity, and monitoring of database systems
* Installing, patch and release management, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
* Ensuring data protection, data security, and compliance (access rights, audits)
* Implementation of database migration and upgrade projects
* Creation and maintenance of technical documentation (standards, SOPs, runbooks)
* Collaboration with developers, IT security, and specialist departments to optimize applications
* Participation in incident and problem management, root-cause analyses

A - Solid experience in relational database administration (at least 3 years) B - Good knowledge of SQL, stored Procedures, performance tuning, and troubleshooting C - Experience with backup/recovery strategies & replication D - Experience with high availability (cluster/streaming/log shipping) E - Basic knowledge of Linux/Windows Server environments F - Familiarity with DevOps practices, automation (e G - Familiarity with infrastructure as code is an advantage H - Basic knowledge of cloud databases/services (AWS RDS/Aurora, Azure SQL, GCP Cloud SQL) desirable I - SQL- and problem-solving-oriented, structured working style and teamwork skills J - Very good spoken and written German & English skills
